Consumer Education

Consumer education is the key to successful marketing.  The conscientious consumer is concerned about where, and how their food is grown. The consumer needs to be informed about what KiwiBerries are, what they taste like, how nutritious they are, and when they are available.

With less than a two month window for sales, growers and marketers must work in harmony to achieve their goals.

We were awarded a grant from the University of Maryland and developed a tri-fold brochure to increase consumer education about Kiwi Berries.

The educational information included in the brochure was compiled from the research that we have completed over the seventeen-year period in which we have been developing hardy kiwi as a commercial fruit crop.

The sections included in the tri-fold are as follows:

"What are they?" These berries are a cousin of the "fuzzy" kiwi although, they are smooth skinned, and each variety has its own size, shape, and tropical taste.

"Where are they from?" Provides history that the vines originated in Asia and Russia and have existed in the U.S. since the 1800's.  Please see the "Kiwi Berries" page.

"Kiwi Berrie Varieties" Please see the "Passion Poppers", "Aloha Annas", and "Novelty Fruits" pages.

"Healthful Nutrients" Outlines the main nutrient values of Kiwi Berries, including vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, fiber, that they are low in sodium, and don't contain cholesterol or saturated fat.   Please see the "Kiwi Nutrition" page.

"Organically Grown" A brief statement of Kiwi Korners location, research efforts, that we are organically certified, our methods of farming, and our goal to produce high quality fruit.   Please see the "About Us" page.

"Serving Suggestions"  Informs the consumer as to how to ripen the fruit.  This section also provides both processing and recipe suggestions in an effort to make the product more "user friendly". It directs the consumer to our web-site for additional information, and it also includes our contact information.  Please see the "Kiwi Recipes" page.
